Race Preview: 2019 McKenzie River Half and Bring in Spring 5K (Springfield)

Level 32 Racing is once again hosting the scenic and fast McKenzie River Half and, new for this year, is also hosting the 4th annual Bring in Spring 5K on the same day! This year the events will run on Sunday, March 24th, with the 5K as a road/trail hybrid inside Armitage Park and the half, as always, will be a point-to-point finishing in the park as well.

Half Marathon: Not to be confused with the scenic (and popular) trail runs along the McKenzie River, this road half is also beautiful and will wind runners through the Hayden Bridge neighborhood, Old Mohawk Road, McKenzie View Drive, and Armitage Park. Racers will have great views of the McKenzie River along the way and with less than 200 feet of climbing, it’s the kind of course PRs are born from.

Click here for a PDF of the course or here for a MapMyRun version. The half marathon cutoff is 3.5 hours and unfortunately due to some narrow shoulder running, no dogs are allowed.

Shuttles will be provided from Armitage Park to the start line in Springfield. There will be five aid stations along the course (at mile 3.8, 5.7, 8, 10 and 12) with water, GU Brew, and GU gels. All finishers will receive a finisher medal and the top 3 in each age division earn a Hop Valley/Level 32 Racing pint glass!

Bring in Spring 5K: The 5K will start at 11:30 in Armitage Park and will be a hybrid course of both road and trail sections. You can view a course map here. Top 3 in each age division of the 5K will earn a medallion.

The beneficiary of the event is the Head Start of Lane County, which promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children.

It’s a beautiful spring race and we hope you’ll make it!
