Strava Segment & Running Meme of the Week: Section 36 Downhiller at Peavy Arboretum

For this week’s Strava Segment of the Week (SSOTW), we are headed to Peavy Arboretum outside Corvallis, to a section that is on the course of the SAFsquatch Scurry. I think, anyway, I can’t tell from their course map which direction they start out! Either way, it is a great segment and a lovely downhill for a mile.

This segment, named “Section 36 Downhiller” starts on Section 36 Loop Trail just north of the crossing with Road 500. It ambles down, or maybe it barrels down since the grade is -8%, for 1.02 miles on trail. The segment finishes at the south point for Cronemiller Lake on the Section 36 Loop Trail. As of today, the owners of this segment’s CRs are Josh Zielinski with 5:56 from October 2014 and Ashley Ehlers from October 2013 at 7:33.

If you want to get in on this race, you still can! The race is tonight, September 21, starting at 5p for the 10k and 5:30p for 5k. Online registration is closed but you can sign up starting at 4p at the Forestry Club Cabin.

I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
