Small Race Preview: 2018 Community Festival Run 5k (Newport)

Last year’s Coast Festival/Stronger Together 5k in Newport has been renamed the Community Festival Run this year. This event is hosted by the Coast Hills Running Club and the money raised will be split between KYAQ and the Newport Cross Country team. This 5k race will be Sunday, February 25th and you can enjoy the 40th Annual Seafood & Wine Festival at the same time!

This race will begin at the Newport Performing Arts Center at 9:00AM. This will be a paved course which travels through Nye Beach and down to the Yaquina Bay Bridge . You’ll head through Yaquina Bay State Park and then loop back up to the Performing Arts Center. The course is pretty flat and very scenic.

The awards will begin at 10:15AM at the Performing Arts Center, and there will be hot local chowder donated by Ocean Bleu at Gino’s. Stick around for the raffle prizes, which are all donations from local businesses.

No strollers, skates, bikes, or pets will be allowed on the course for everyone’s safety, as no roads will be closed for the event. All runners should abide by the traffic laws.

Come on out to the coast and run this race and celebrate with some good seafood and wine.
