Looking for coffee on the go? Voila!

Available November 1, 2017!

Besides water and craft beer (not necessarily in that order on any given day), coffee is definitely something I consume my fair share of. Over my years, and likely thanks to living in Oregon for the past 13 years, my taste has gotten more and more refined over the years. I am FAR from a “coffee snob”, but have learned that I like local and small batch offerings more so than mass-produced options, and I like them in bean form just prior to grinding and brewing. My latest “splurge” was a coffee maker with a grinder attached, which makes my mornings SO much better.

But freshly ground coffee is not always practical. I have three young kids at home, and sitting down to grind and brew a fresh pot or cup is not always feasible. Never mind that I LOVE coffee pre- and post-race, as well as when I am hitting up the backcountry. Beans don’t travel super well in these instances. There are a few travel coffee options out there, but they are mostly from mass-produced suppliers (not necessarily bad, just not my favorite. A new subscription service, Voila, is hitting the market on November 1, 2017 (after being funded on Kickstarter last year), and may just be the answer to my prayers. We were sent a sample box to check out, and you can bet I will be ordering more.

Voila sends a cigarette-looking box of 5 different types of coffee with each order. Each is enough for one cup (8-10 ounces) and all it requires is that you add hot water. In our sample box, we received a packet from Coava and Upper Left Roasters (local Portland favorites), as well as other smaller roasters from across the country. The taste of each we will leave up to you (though we loved all of ours), but know that you will get to customize your taste preferences when you order and will be matched in future orders depending on your desires. These can be changed whenever you feel like it, so you won’t have to worry. The coffee tasted fresh, and was super convenient for me while I was at work and at the park after a run, and will also be perfect to toss in our pack for our next overnight camping trip.

We love that these guys are local (based out of Bend), and expect great things!
