Let’s get “Coasty” at the OC — The Oregon Coast that is!
Now, this year’s Oregon Coast 50k and 30k is already sold out, but if you enjoy ultra trail runs, you’ll want to check this event out – maybe as a volunteer (hint, hint). Volunteers also earn discounts to other Rainshadow Running Events per this schedule:
- Up to 2.5 hours = 25% discount
- 2.5-5 hours = 50% discount
- 5-7.5 hours = 75% discount
- 7.5+ hours = 100% discount

The event offers a weekend full of trail running, coastal views, and beer drinking with two different distances on two different days. Rainshadow Running does an excellent job with their events, as organizers who are runners and therefore put on their events with the runners first and foremost on their plan.
Both distances start out of Yachats, but the 50k is on Saturday and the 30k is on Sunday. The 50k has a shuttle running from The Adobe Resort to the race start line, leaving at 8:30a for the 9a start time. There are aid station cut-off times at mile 7 (2 hours 15 min), mile 14 (4 hours), and mile 24 (6 hours 15 min), and the finish line closes at 5p.
The 30k will start and finish at 10a at The Adobe Resort, immediately after a kid’s 1k. There are also cut-offs for the 30k; at mile 6 (2 hours) and mile 13 (4 hours 15 min). The finish line closes at 4p.
As Rainshadow Running always says, “Why run anywhere else?” and with the Oregon Coast being one of the seven wonders of Oregon I can see why. Why do a run anywhere else when the “Pacific North Wonderland” is such a, … wonderland.

Other details: there is a shuttle for the 50kers only and they must check in at the Adobe Resort by 8:30, there will be no bib pick up at the start line. There is no crew or spectator access at the start line. there are some cutoffs for both the 50k and 30k below.
Registration: As mentioned, registration for the 50k and 30k is now sold out, but the free kids 1k still has room. If you are still dreaming of running this race, there is a small chance you’ll be able to buy another participant’s bib for what they paid for it – this is approved by the race organizers, as long as you provide all your information and follow their guilelines, which you can find out about here.
