Race Preview: 2017 McKenzie River Trail Run 50K

logoOregon’s oldest ultra. Emerald pools. Waterfalls. Old growth forest. Log bridges. Lava flows. Singletrack. The McKenzie River Trail Run 50K is scheduled for Saturday, September 9, 2017. But I’m only telling you all of this to be a tease. Registration was filled and closed months ago. But put this event on your 2018 run calendar because it is as spectacular as it sounds.

The course is a point to point run with approximate elevation change of 2,161+/3,328-.

Registration opens in April to just 200 runners and sells out in just a few days (if not hours). It’s only $70, which includes 5 aid stations, overall + age group awards, post-race lunch, and race apparel.

If you do your planning right, you can stop by the hot springs for a post-run dip as well!

Check out the race website for more information and stay up to date on their Facebook page (**hint hint, for notice on when registration for 2018 opens!**).
