Created to celebrate and empower women, the Oregon Women’s Half Marathon and 5k is set for Sunday, October 8th in West Eugene. The Half Marathon will begin at 9:00am and the 5k Run/Walk will follow at 9:03am. Organized by Pink Buffalo Racing, the course is flat and fast, perfect for any ladies new to events or experienced women looking for a personal best. There will be five aid stations along the half marathon course with Gatorade, water and energy gels and the 5k will provide two aid stations. The half marathon course will remain open for four hours, to accommodate walkers and runners. Strollers are welcome on the course, just be courteous of other participants.
Oregon Women’s Half Marathon shirts are available for purchase through August 15th.
The event will be chip timed by Eclectic Edge Racing. All half marathon finishers will receive a finisher medals. The top three finishers in both events will earn a medallion. Register before August 15th for the best deal. The half marathon costs $50 and the 5k costs $25, prices increase on August 15th. Day of registration will be available for $70. Kids under 17 and adults over 60 can deduct $5 from registration. Long sleeve event shirts are available for purchase if you pre-order before August 15th for $22.
The run starts and finishes at the Noble Estate Winery Urban Tasting Room (560 Commercial Street in Eugene). Participants 21 and over will receive a ticket valid for a Muscat mimosa or beer at the finish line. If wine is more your style, there will be a tasting with nearly a dozen award winning wines at the finish line to choose from, for ladies looking to make a morning of it. Early packet pick-up is offered at Pink Buffalo Paint and Sip Studio in Eugene from 2-4pm on Saturday, October 7th. Packet pick-up opens at 7:30am on race morning and goes until 8:45am for the half marathon and 9am for the 5k. Inaugural events are always fun. Grab some girlfriends and head to Eugene on October 8th to run, sip a few wines and celebrate women.
