Race Extras: Come Join Us for the 2017 Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon & Relay

If running a beautiful course in Wine Country is not motivation enough to give The Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon a try this year, maybe some of the other perks of the race weekend September 2-3 will help sway you.

The race expo will be held on September 2nd at the Evergreen Aviation Museum from 11:00AM to 5:00PM. This is a great chance to get your race packet for FREE, meet the exhibitors and race sponsors, and maybe shop for some apparel and gifts. Or you could stay awhile and go to the Race Orientation Seminar to learn what to expect on race day.  At 3:00PM the “Insiders Guide to the Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon” seminar brought to you by the race director, Matt Dockstader, will tell you everything you ever wanted or needed to know about the race course, logistics, transportation, and the festival at the end of the race. Please also remember that the race expo is the only option for picking up your race packet free of charge. If you choose early packet pick-up on Friday, the cost will be $10 and if you wait until race-day, the cost will be $15. See packet pick-up info here.

Also on Saturday September 2nd, there will be a Pre-Race Dinner at Left Coast Cellars, which is a family estate with a passion for hand-crafted estate wines. Their vineyards and winery are LIVE certified sustainable and over 90% of the estate is solar powered. This dinner will be a great opportunity to meet the Race Director and some of the elite runners while also getting to dine on some great food and taste some delicious Oregon wine. The cost for this dinner is $65 and it will be from 6:00PM-8:00PM.

Runners may pre-purchase up to 3 guest wine glasses (SCHOTT ZWIESEL® Crystal Glassware) for $30 from 9:30AM-12:00PM on Sunday September 3rd to enjoy the post-race Wine and Music Festival and wine tasting. There is also a chance to pre-purchase a commemorative Silipint and 1 beer for you and up to 3 guest for $15.

You’ll get anothe chance to enjoy the wine as well as some live music following the race on Sunday from 9:30AM to 12:00PM at the Wine & Music Festival, which will be presented by Ken Wright Cellars in Downtown Carlton. Lagunitas Brewing Company as well as over 20 wineries will be here to greet you after you cross that finish line and they will be pouring some refreshing beverages. This event is open to all your friends and family, so bring them along. To participate in the wine tasting, runners can pre-purchase a wine glass when they register for the race to take part in the wine tasting. Don’t forget to bring your ID.

If you wish to add any of these race extras to your schedule for the weekend, find your options here.  To register for the race, please sign up here and enter “baby boot camp” at checkout for a $10 discount. I’ll see you on race day!
