Strava Segment of the Week: Cathedral Park Trail

St. John’s is a lovely neighborhood, and Cathedral Park is simply beautiful, so this week’s Segment of the Week is in that area.

The Cathedral Park Trail segment has a few rollers over it’s 0.5-mile distance, which start at the end of N. Burlington Ave and then heads north on the N. Portland Willamette Greenway Trail. The trail then undulates under the St. John’s Bridge, first away from the river and then back towards it, before ending back upslope next to N. Bradford Street.

Only 39 people have attempted this segment, but it’s been tried a total of 229 times.

The current Course Records for the Cathedral Park Trail are:

Women’s: Melissa Cox from August 2016, 3:37

Men’s: Remi Boille from March 2016, 2:50

So, can you beat their times and become the leader of this segment? You have until Thursday, June 1 at noon to try and break the record and see your name in “lights” on Run Oregon! We’ll post a new Segment next Friday at 12.

Our segment from two weeks ago was the Bridge to Nowhere WB in Tualatin, and there are no new CRs as of yet.

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. There is also a premium version, but in order to run and record routes as described in this post, you do not need to subscribe to their premium service. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.
