Strava Segment of the Week: SW Breccia Dr Climb (Beaverton)

How about a hill? The segment SW Breccia Dr Climb is a half mile with a 7% grade, climbing 183 feet. This hill is no joke, but it will do wonders for your strength and speed if you run it regularly. The segment starts at SW Teal Boulevard and follows the Powerline Trail northwest. It crosses SW 155th and SW Weir before ending just on the other side of Weir.

This segment has been attempted 1,143 times by 292 people.

As of June 1, 2017, the course records for the SW Breccia Dr Climb segment are:

Women’s: Samantha Bowen from June 2016, 3:59

Men’s: Kyle Schenone from April 2017, 3:31

So, can you beat their times and become the leader of this segment? You have until Thursday, June 16 at noon to try and break the record and see your name in “lights” on Run Oregon! We’ll post a new Segment next Friday at 12.

Our segment from two weeks ago was the “Woodard Park NB” segment in Tigard. The women’s CR is still held by Hillary Kupish with her June 2016 time of 2:09, and Chris McIsaac’s 2:08 from May of this year also still stands.

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. There is also a premium version, but in order to run and record routes as described in this post, you do not need to subscribe to their premium service. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
