This may be titled the Capital FC Half Marathon, but the event also offers a 5 and 10K for those who prefer a shorter race. A benefit event for the Capital Futbol Club (a nonprofit youth soccer club in Salem), this may be one of the least expensive halfs of the year, as it is only $40 to register until May 12th. Race day is June 4th, and with the course heading out into the countryside east of Salem, it will likely be quite beautiful.
As stated above, the half is $40 and while the 10K is $35 and 5K $30 until May 12th. Registering for that date will guarantee you a shirt, while all finishers will receive a medal. Entry fees will increase by an additional $5 after that date. The start times are staggered as well, with the longer distance going at 7:30, and the other two following at 15 minute intervals. All events start and finish at the Capital FC’s Soccer Complex in east Salem at 5201 State Street. There will be a packet pickup option available at Gallagher Fitness Resources the Friday prior from 2 to 6. DOE pickup will begin at 6 am.
Post race festivities include live music and for the over 21 crowd, free beer from Salem Ale Works. This looks like a great early summer event for a charitable cause. That half is really easy on the wallet too! With timing provided by Huber Timing, results will be accurate and quickly accessible. Without really knowing that area very well, I can’t guarantee it will be a fast time, but June 4th at the Capital FC Soccer Complex will likely be a fun time!
