Alien Abduction Dash Celebrates the UFO Festival in McMinnville on May 20th

Being a Scully and Mulder fan, I have to say this race caught my attention. I don’t believe in UFO’s, but I do think this event sounds out of this world. The Alien Abduction 5K/Kids’ Fun Run is just part of the weekend festivities at the 18th Annual UFO Festival in McMinnville on Saturday, May 20th. The festival takes place all weekend at Hotel Oregon and includes everything related to the possibility of extraterrestrials. Check out their website for a schedule of events, if that’s your thing.

Participants are encouraged to dress in costume, naturally as aliens. The 5K starts at 9am and costs $30. The course runs along the Linfield College Wellness Trail and awards will be given for the top finishers in each age division. Awards will also be given for the best costumes, so get creative with your space creatures. Race beanies are only guaranteed until May 10th. The Kids’ Fun Run costs $15 and the 1 1/2 mile course is intended for children 14 and under.

Make a day or long weekend of it and attend McMenamin’s 18th Annual UFO Festival beginning May 18th. From their website, “The compelling lineup includes: Yvonne Smith – Hypnotherapist & alien abduction expert; David Shindele – Retired Air Force captain & UFO experiencer; Robert Hastings – UFO/nukes phenomenon expert; Robert Jacobs – Retired Air Force officer & UFO experiencer; Melanie Young – Starchild Project co-founder & former neonatal nurse.”

Not your traditional 5K, this event will certainly be memorable. Hang around for some music and alien watching after the race.
