Race Preview: 2016 Barrel to Keg Relay

Spanning 111 kilometers and ending in scenic Newport, Oregon, the Barrel to Keg Relay is one you won’t want to miss!  The run/walk course takes participants through some of the most luscious scenery the Oregon coast range has to offer.  Get your start at the Harris Bridge Vineyard in Philomath, Oregon, and finish strong at the Rogue Ales Brewery in Newport.  The proceeds from this event benefit Community Services Consortium (CSC), hence this relay being dubbed “The Race Against Poverty”.

The running course is 69 miles.  Runners will split this course up into 14 legs.  Solo ultra runners are also welcome (and are even offered an earlier start time!)  For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, the walking course is 35 miles, split into 8 legs.  If you prefer wheels to athletic shoes, there is also a cycle option.  See the website for information!
Awaiting you at the finish line will be a beer garden set up by Rogue.  There will also be an awards ceremony, music and food (of course!)  In addition to awards for fastest times, there will also be awards for the team(s) that raise the most money for the poverty-fighting programs offered by CSC!
