The 5k run/walk starts and ends at McMenamin’s Edgefield in the parking lot to the golf course and distillery shed. The course is a rolling double loop of a 1.55 mile path around the golf course, and the running surface is mostly packed gravel. Due to the uneven surface, wheelchairs and strollers are not permitted on the course, and you are asked to leave your dog at home as well. Children are welcome to participate in the run, and youth registration (for runners 12 and under) is only $10. Registration includes a “Columbia Sportswear winter accessory” which in past years has been a beanie cap and a fleece headband.
Since the course only accommodates 500 runners at a time, during registration you choose between three different start times: 9am, 10am, and 11am. Chip timing is an optional paid add-on, if you would like exact timing of your run. The amazing long sleeved tech event shirt is available for separate purchase for $23.
After the run, stay for beverages and hot soup served inside and get your finisher’s photo taken with either a tropical or arctic theme. The costume contest promises great prizes. The finisher’s lunch ends at 2pm, at which point you can enjoy all that McMenamin’s Edgefield has to offer.
If you are interested in all of the swag and perks of this race with none of the running, you can sign up to volunteer for a four hour time slot.
