Fuel Friday: PROBAR (and discount code!)

imageCompany: PROBAR created delicious, convenient, healthy, plant-based food products. PROBAR sent samples of two types of fuel from their nutrition line - the Bite and the Bolt. In addition to these, they also have:

  • Meal (meal replacement)
  • Fuel (superfood energy bar)
  • Base (protein bar)
Bite: The Bite is PROBAR’s NEW organic “anytime snack”. They are all dairy, gluten and soy free and weigh in at about 190 calories. I am a snack addict. If I don’t have something to fill in the time between my “main” meals, I get grumpy and go on the prowl for a little boost. Unfortunately that sometimes means I raid co-workers provocatively placed candy bar jars. I have been doing better with taking a healthy approach due to products like the Bite.

It is a perfect middle of the day pick-me-up to keep me going and not wreck my health. They have some unique flavors:

  • Coconut Almond
  • Chocolate Cherry Cashew
  • Mixed Berry
  • Peanut Butter Chocolate
  • Peanut Butter Crunch
  • Superfruit + Greens

One of the great parts of these flavors are that they aren’t overpoweringly strong tasting. The flavors are definitely there, but not enough to reach out and punch you in the face. I appreciated I thought the Peanut Butter Crunch could have been more “peanut-buttery”, but I know that an overpowering flavor can steer people clear as well. Coconut Almond was my favorite – tasting like it should not be good for me.The coconut flavor, while not overpowering, was very pleasant and the taste had me forgetting that Almond Joys even exist.

A 12-pack runs about $24 online.

Bolt: I personally love energy gels, but realize that not it is not for everybody. Even though I enjoy them, I admit that I sometimes need a little break from them. The Bolt is PROBAR’s energy chew, an enjoyable energy-packed gummy. The Bolt is filled with complex carbs, electrolytes, and B Vitamins. Their flavors include:

  • Berry Blast
  • Orange
  • Raspberry
  • Strawberry

I tried out all flavors and there wasn’t one that I disliked. The flavors are simple and almost tastes like I’m eating a bag of gummy bears.  A 12-pack runs about $30 online.
