A Family Event: Run with the Eagle 5k at Sexton Mountain Elementary on April 11th

Run with the Eagle 5k is a great opportunity to get out, get a little exercise and support Sexton Mountain Elementary School.  Saturday, April 11th the run starts and finishes at the school and weaves through Beaverton neighborhoods. I volunteered last year and heard the course might include a little bit of a hill. It was a blast seeing so many kids out there, some of them seriously competing and others just having a good time. The best part is that all of the money raised with this event goes right back to the kids and the school.

The 5k Run/Walk begins at 9AM and is $20 for adults and only $10 for kids under 18. There will also be a non-timed FREE Kids Fun Run for the little ones.  All participants must register, including those kids running the free event. Online registration is available through April 10th and registration will be offered the morning of the run. Add $5 to your registration fee and you get a t-shirt. Sparky, the school mascot, will likely make an appearance and this event includes a great fitness fair. Check out all the fun from last year on their Facebook page. The community really gets involved with this run, including teachers, kids and parents. Some are volunteering along the course and others are running it, everyone having fun. This is a great opportunity to get the family out and raise some money for the school. Added entertainment when you finish or while you wait: Dance along with the DJ and get a temporary tattoo at the henna tattoo booth. Run with the Eagle 5k is a reasonably priced event and perfect excuse to get out to run, with or without the kids.
