This month I was given the pleasure to sample the electrolyte product Nuun. I was given grape, pink lemonade, tropical and fruit punch flavors to sample in addition to the blue water bottled with the Nuun logo across the front. I decided to start by sampling the fruit punch flavor. I opened the capsule, took out the tablet and placed it the Nuun water bottle. After a couple of minutes of fizzing it dissolved completely in the bottle.

I started out on my run, with my Nuun water bottle in hand. Right away I knew I was not a fan of the water bottle. Maybe I got a “lemon”, but the water bottle didn’t expel the drink as I expected. Each sip I took seemed to be mixed with air. I was getting a weird mix of air and electrolyte drink, not to mention the awkward noise that came out of the bottle when I took a drink. For my following runs I used a different water bottle and all was well.

During races I always take the electrolyte drink sample at the hydration station when it’s offered. What I’ve noticed from the samples is that typically they are too sticky, or sugary, and I end up needing to get a water sample in addition to the electrolyte sample to wash it down. I was presently surprised when I tried the Nuun samples. The drink was mellow and left no sticky, sugary residue afterwards. It went down very smooth.

Nuun comes in 14 different flavors:

  • Banana
  • Orange
  • Lemon Lime
  • Strawberry Lemonade
  • Fruit Punch
  • Kona Cola
  • Lemon Tea
  • Tri-Berry
  • Grape
  • Tropical
  • Citrus Fruit
  • Cherry Limeade
  • Watermelon
  • Lemonade

I sampled the Grape, Strawberry Lemonade, Fruit Punch, Tropical, Lemon+Lime and Orange Flavors. My favorite was the fruit punch flavor, although the others were delicious as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this product and would recommend it to others. For more information about the Nuun products, visit their website.
