With fall just around the corner comes the annual Regatta Run in Tualatin. This 5K takes place alongside the annual West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta, making for a pretty unique race-day experience. And yes, the Pumpkin Regatta is exactly what it sounds like: people rowing giant pumpkins across the lake as if they were boats.

So, you can knock out a 5K, watch competitors attempt to steer enormous floating pumpkins, and enjoy all of the other fall festivities happening around Tualatin.
The Regatta Run is a flat and fast course that starts at Tualatin Community Park before making its way through Durham Park and Cook Park. Along the way, you’ll get plenty of scenic fall views. Check out the race course map here.
And kids should definitely come ready for a little Halloween fun – there’s a new 1/4 mile dash for runners aged 4-12. Runners are encouraged to wear costumes as well.
“All net proceeds will support Tualatin Rotary’s first-generation college scholarships at Tualatin High School and opportunities for school-aged children in our community. This event was founded in memory of Marine Corporal Matthew Lembke, a 2005 graduate of Tualatin High School who lost his life while serving in Afghanistan. His sacrifice and service has inspired us to support youth and their future potential.”
This one is definitely on my list. A run through a few Tualatin parks followed by fall festivities and people trying to race giant pumpkins across the water sounds like a pretty good way to spend a weekend.
