It’s Almost Here! Are You Running the 2026 Portland Marathon?

Considering the amazing running community that exists here in the Pacific Northwest, it’s no wonder that the Portland Marathon is an epic event. This year, the race will be on October 4th, 2026. Runners get a 10k, a half marathon, and a full marathon to choose from and all races will begin downtown at Waterfront Park.

The big thing you should be aware of if you’ve never done this event is that it’s kind of a BIG DEAL. This race brings about 12,000 of your closest friends to downtown Portland, and as someone who’s run both the full and half a few times, I have the authority to say that it’s a wonderful celebration of all things Portland.

Do keep in mind that you’ll want to get there early because parking will be a big consideration. Check out the Parking Map to see the parking facilities that surround the venue.

The half marathon will kick off at 7:00AM and the marathon and 10k will both take off together at 7:15AM. You can check out the course maps here, and rest assured that there are plenty of aid stations.

Aid stations will be stocked with water, Skratch Labs Lemon Lime Electrolyte, porta-potties, and muscle pain relief gel as well as basic first aid supplies. Some additional aid stations will be supplied with Crank Sports E-gels.

Packet pick-up will be the day before the race at the Oregon Convention Center, and it’s a really fun event all in itself with lots of vendors and freebies. It really gets you pumped up and excited for the race!

There is always great on-course entertainment for this event and there’s a Neighborhood Cheer Challenge, which means all the neighborhoods are competing to be the best in getting you through the race. The finish line always brings a great party to you as well, and all participants will receive a complimentary beverage and a “unique culinary treat” that’s in the true flavor of Portland.

The medals this year are beautiful and unique. Runners will also get a choice between a performance tech shirt or (for a small upgrade fee,) a tri-blend shirt. If you’re not happy with your selection, you can exchange your shirt for another at the expo.

This really is a fun event that all Portlanders should experience at least once!
