Chill Out in Style: Ciele’s Cold Weather Collection Will Warm Your Run

In the midst of 2023, Ciele, once solely renowned primarily for its performance hats, unveiled a range of new apparel, signaling a significant expansion beyond its hat-centric identity. Earlier this year, they launched a performance line as well. Now they are back with a new Cold Weather Collection as we head into the winter doldrums.

U VLVMockneck

Having the Ciele Athletics U VLV Mockneck in my closet has been a temptation for weeks. With its stylish design and the plush softness that embraced me the moment I tried it on, I was almost wishing for cooler weather just to wear it. Now that the temperatures are dropping, I’m finally able to put it to use, and it hasn’t disappointed.

This top comes in a few colors, and I kind of want them all. The purple, while the most vibrant of the options, is still quite muted and not at all overpowering. At first glance, it’s hard to believe this is designed for running—its style and fit make it just as suitable for casual wear. Honestly, I’d recommend it more for pre- or post-race situations rather than during intense runs. That said, it transitions well into different settings.

While this mockneck doesn’t scream “running gear” at first, I did put it to the test during some runs. The mock neck isn’t overly tight, but it does a great job of holding in warmth, making it perfect for colder weather. With its reflective details and soft merino wool collar, it’s well-suited for chilly morning or evening runs.

  • Main fabric: 67% recycled polyester (29% carbon), 33% polyester
  • Collar fabric: 100% merino wool

The blend of recycled materials makes it eco-conscious, while the merino wool adds a natural, luxurious softness. It’s this combination that gives the shirt its edge—stylish, functional, and incredibly comfortable.

While the Ciele Athletics U VLV Mockneck is perfect for cold-weather runs, it truly shines as a versatile piece you can wear in various settings. From warming up pre-race to post-run coffee, it’s more than just a running top—it’s a cozy, stylish layer I’m happy to have in my rotation.

U ATWPant

The Ciele Athletics ATW Pant is a perfect complement to their sweaters, offering a nice crossover appeal between casual wear and performance gear. Ciele describes these pants as “something different in a running pant,” and I found that to be spot-on. They’re a versatile option that blends style with function, ideal for those who want both comfort and a modern look.

The fit is quite tailored, hugging closer to the body while leaving a bit more room around the thighs and hips. There’s also articulation at the knees, enhancing mobility without compromising the sleek silhouette. One of the standout features is the cropped length, with the pant legs falling just above the ankle—making them perfect to pair with a clean set of white sneakers for a contemporary, polished look.

  • 88% recycled polyester; 12% elastane

The design clearly reflects Ciele’s intention to create something that transitions well between different settings. Whether worn alone on mild days or as a base layer for extra warmth, these pants perform equally well. The “something different” Ciele aimed for is evident in how easily they adapt—ideal for both casual outings and functional cold-weather.

When it comes to running, especially in colder weather, the ATW Pant holds up well. Though designed with a fashionable silhouette, these pants don’t compromise on performance. They provide the right amount of warmth, making them a reliable go-to for chilly conditions, while still allowing flexibility and comfort during movement.

The Ciele Athletics ATW Pant strikes a balance between fashion and function. With a stylish, modern design and a comfortable, tailored fit, they’re ideal for cold-weather running but also versatile enough for everyday wear. Whether you need a sleek standalone piece or a reliable base layer, these pants are up for the task.
