The Hurricane Half is Making Landfall

If you haven’t locked in plans for Memorial Weekend, consider running the Hurricane Creek Half (5M or 5k) in Joseph on Saturday, May 25th! It’s a bit of a challenge, with ~1,200 feet of gain but with views of the Wallowa Mountains, Eagle Cap Wilderness, Seven Devils, and high valleys, but it’s well worth the effort.

It is an out and back course, starting at Joseph City Park at 4,200 ft and climbs to a mile high at 5,100 ft. The first (and last) 3 miles are mostly paved and the middle 6 miles are all maintained dirt road surface. There will be a self-aided water station at the Grange Mile (about 5K mark) and another water station at the Hurricane Creek Trailhead ~ mile 6.5.

The 5 mile is an out and back road run along the first 2.5 miles of the half marathon course. The 5K is the same, just the first 1.55 miles of the half marathon course. Both will have a water station at the turnaround and are minimally supported, so be prepared with your own fuel / hydration needs and use the water stations to supplement.

Awards will be given to the top 3 male and top 3 female overall finishers for each event and each half finisher will receive a medal.

This event is a fundraiser for the Runners of the Sage running group, whose mission is to encourage more active lifestyles, self-sufficiency, and more awareness of the environment. To keep the cost of this race at a bare minimum, support is appreciated through merchandise purchases (and, of course, registration fees!).
