Be Fancy and Do Good NEXT WEEKEND at The Fanciest 5K Ever (Salem)

Among the effects of COVID-19 is a lot more focus on comfortable. We all spent so much time at home that the effort to get out can still feel overwhelming at times. I want to suggest that if you are going to go out, then make it worthwhile. Make it an experience. Make it fancy.

At The Fanciest 5K Ever, you have the chance for a worthwhile experience that will help sex-trafficking survivors while going for a walk or run in your fanciest duds. For this fun 5K, participants are encouraged to wear prom dresses, tuxedos, top hats, tiaras, and anything else that has been sparkling in the back of your closet.

The event begins and ends at West Coast Strength in Salem, with the awards ceremony inside the space for top finishers, fundraisers, and fanciest outfits. The course goes around Wallace Marine Park and River Front Park, so plenty of lovely sights to be seen in your fancy-schmancy outfit.

All proceeds from the events for to Safety Compass: “a local organization that provides free, confidential advocacy for sex-trafficking survivors in the mid-Willamette Valley region of Oregon.” The group collaborates with law enforcement officials and social services providers to seek criminal and social justice. Learn more about Safety Compass through their website.

The last few years have been A LOT. So consider this your excuse to do some good while wearing some glam. And if you are not into the fancy right now, then wear the comfiest sweats you have and still be part of all the fancy good.
