I’ve lived in Oregon for well over a decade, but this is my first time hearing about the Painted Hills Festival. And what a sweet looking event I’ve been missing. The day starts out with a race at 7am; all participants meet at the Mitchell Gym and are bused to their starting lines.

Participants have half marathon, 10K, and 5K distances to choose from. The finish line for everyone is back in Michell. Along the way, race leadership promises beautiful sights and support stations for the morning run.
After the race, stick around for the rest of the festival. A Grand Parade will travel through town beginning at 11:30. Vendors will set up throughout City Park, and the quilt show is in Community Hall. Finally, Water Trough Races will be at the Wheeler County Story.
Can you imagine a better way to celebrate Labor Day weekend?
