Check out the new Run Proud Collection from Brooks

If there is one thing I think we can all mostly agree upon, it is that running freedom is what drives us. Regardless of what we have going on in our lives at the current moment, a few miles on the road or trails can be mentally and emotionally freeing – at least for many of us. But there is still work to be done on this front until all runners – regardless of race, gender, or anything else. Brooks has partnered with renowned fine artist and illustrator, Lisa Congdon to design this Spring’s Run Proud Collection.

The 2022 Run Proud Collection currently has a few items in it:

  • Tanks
  • Hats
  • Socks
  • Shoes

More product releases are planning to be added this Fall. Here’s a little bit more about the inspiration behind the collection:

“I wanted my designs to bring forward the idea of being yourself. I drew the illustrations by hand to create a composition that mimics the rhythmic elements of a dynamic landscape. And the colors from the progress flag gave me the perfect palette to bring energy to the designs. It really was an honor to create a design that speaks to queer joy.”

We absolutely feel this, as Lisa’s bright and playful designs captures the joy and freedom of being yourself on the run and, more importantly, in life. We were sent a few items from this collection and the style and colors are infectious. Not only do they have the quality in the materials – they also have a splash that just screams happiness. Personal note – the Levitate Stealthfit 5 is a great shoe (Run Oregon review), and the Run Proud Collection version has me obsessed. Want.

Beyond the gear, Brooks and Lisa sponsored a field day last summer for Camp Brave Trails (CBT) – a organization and youth camp dedicated to building up the next generation of LGBTQ+ leaders. Campers partook in actives ranging from designing cabin flags to leadership workshops for campers/staff. In addition, Brooks presented a monetary donation to CBT’s Capital Campaign, a campaign to support a new campsite for youth. Checkout photos of last summer’s festivities.

The Run Proud Collection is one that is great and worthwhile for a lot of reasons. We recommend checking it out!

About Author

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
