Strava Segment of the Week: Running from Lawyers

In this world of waivers and hearings, I think we could all get a laugh out of a segment called Running From Lawyers.

This segment starts out at the bottom of a hill in Tryon Creek State Park on the Lewis & Clark Trail and then runs up, finishing within the park but within sight of the Legal Research Center on the Lewis & Clark Campus. The total distance is 0.35 miles, but rises 201 feet for an average grade of 11%, so be prepared to work for this one. It starts out relatively flat and then — up you go!

There have been over 2,000 attempts By 758 runners, and the current leaders for this segment have been on top for a while – Kacey Manahan from June 2016 (3:49) and Ty James from March 2018 (2:55). If you’ve been looking for a challenging hill to do some repeats on – we found one for you. You’re welcome!

From the Run Oregon club, Ay-ay-ron Simpson has the fastest time for this segment, with a 3:16 at the top of the leaderboard. Excellent work, Aaron!

Also, if you use Strava (or want to get started – it’s free!) please join the Run Oregon club! We currently have 719 members! It’s a fun way to keep track of your miles and see how others in the area are doing.

Strava is an online training and racing log for runners and cyclists. The basic account is free and requires you to create a login. Note that this is not sponsored by Strava, nor endorsed or supported in any way by Strava. It’s just a fun thing we’re going to do to give some speedy shout-outs to area runners and pose a challenge to those of you willing to take on their segment.
