Your First Travel Race of 2022 – The Trinidad to Clam Beach Run!

“This race is about soaking up the beauty of the Pacific Northwest!
I promise, you may cross that finish line a little bit soaked, but grinning!”

Just 2 hours south of Oregon sits the seaside village of Trinidad. Known for its pristine beaches, and majestic redwoods, Trinidad is the ideal destination for a fun weekend getaway. It has a small-town coastal charm with easy access to breathtaking beauty. And–there’s something you won’t want to miss happening on January 29th.

After one year of being postponed due to the pandemic, the annual Trinidad to Clam Beach Run is back! The race begins on an undulating road lined with gorgeous redwoods. Runners will have to then splash through the river at Moonstone Beach and trek their way across the sands of Clam Beach as a part of the course. The Trinidad to Clam Beach Run is great for all ages, participants can sprint, run, or walk this beautiful trail in the fresh clean Pacific air. And the best part? After the race, there will be a party on the beach to celebrate your victory, along with a hot bowl of chili, music, and a bonfire! The Trinidad to Clam Beach Run will be held on January 29th.

The Trinidad to Clam Beach Run first began as a winter training race back in 1966. Originally organized by Ford Hess, the Humboldt State Track and Field Coach, this race was designed to get his runners in shape for the coming year. Over the years, it has since evolved into a nationally known run, with 3, 5 3/4, and 8 3/4-mile events. However, this year in order to streamline our efforts coming out of the pandemic, the race will only be 5 ¾ miles. The other two races (8 3/4 and 3 miles) will be back next year!

Planning your trip will be easy! With so many places to choose where to rest your head for the night, it’s hard to pick just one. In Trinidad you have options. Whether you want to be close to our restaurants and shops downtown, overlooking the ocean, or even hidden away in the Redwoods, we’ve got it all.
