The 2021 Girlfriends Half Marathon, 10k, and 6k will take place on Sunday, October 10 at the beautiful Vancouver Waterfront Landing. With construction complete in the area, it promises to be a great venue. There is a fee to park in the adjoining parking lot, but Vancouver street and garage parking is free on Sundays just a few blocks north of the start line.
All distances will start together (in waves) at 9am, and all courses will show you gorgeous areas of Vancouver. The 6k course is a mostly flat out and back along the Columbia River. The 10k goes a little bit farter to the east with its turnaround at Marine Park. The half marathon will include a few more hills; it starts with a loop through downtown Vancouver and Fort Vancouver’s Officer’s rows before joining the 10k course for a mostly flat second half.
The Girlfriends Half is a women’s event which raises money for Pink Lemonade Project and the Jaime Wyatt Miller Cancer Compassion Fund helping local women navigate Breast Cancer. Participants will receive a long sleeve tech event shirt, a tutu, finisher’s medal, post-race brunch at Warehouse 23, and have the option to receive a crown as well. Pre-race packet pickup is at Foot Traffic Vancouver on Saturday, Oct 9th, 10am-6pm, and at the start line starting at 8am on Sunday.
Registration is open online through October 7th. The cost is $85 for the half marathon, $70 for the 10k, and $55 for the 6k. Youth up to 17 years of age get half price registration, and children ages 12 and under can participate in the 6k for free!
