Race Preview: 2021 Haulin Aspen (Mt. Bachelor)

Over in Central Oregon, where the mountains are always out and the trails go on for days, Haulin Aspen has been one of biggest trail races for years. Trail Runner Magazine even mentioned it as a premier event in the #1 top trail town, making it a massive draw for runners from all over the west.

What makes this race so good is the fact that is 100% single track, which is rare for a full marathon distance. Add some elevation gain (because, duh) and what you get is an awesome experience. Making it great season after season is Lay It Out Events, who continue to offer well organized races that are lots of fun, competitive, well marked and fun. Did I mention fun?

I’ve run every mile of these courses and the views never disappoint, with shots of the Sisters mountains, Mt Bachelor and Broken Top. The trails are fast, with very little technical terrain and plenty of ups and downs without any major climbs. If you haven’t had a chance to experience these trails, this is definitely a race for you.
