Race Preview: 2021 Capital FC Half Marathon/10k/5k (Salem)

The 2021 Capital FC Half Marathon is ON and it’s right around the corner! This event, which also has a 10k and a 5k option, benefits Capital Fútbol Club, which is a non-profit youth soccer club in Salem. The soccer players from the club will be on the sidelines to cheer you on and this is a wonderful celebration of the return of live races that we’ve all been waiting for.

There will be 8 hands-free water stations located along the course, staggered every 2 miles or so. There will also be portable restrooms located at the start and finish, as well as several spots along the course. If you’d like to view the course, you can do so here. The course will close at 11:00AM.

Since we are still living through a pandemic, race directors are working hard to make this race as safe as possible. There will be a pre-event selection of start times and there will be a limited amount of participants allowed this year (25-75% less than the pre-covid capacity.) A Pre-event health screening survey will need to be turned in by all participants, and there will an enhanced cleaning program and protective barriers at interaction points. All staff and volunteers will be required to have face covereings, and participants will be required to wear them as well in the pre-start and festival area. They can be removed approximately 100 feet after runners cross the start line if it’s safe.

Animals, baby strollers, bicycles, and skates will not be allowed on the course for the safety of the participants.

All participants will be entered into a drawing for a one night stay at The Independence Hotel. Register today and get out there!!
