Race Preview: 2021 Hop Hop Half Marathon, 10k, 5k (Portland and anywhere)

With the beginning of the new year, the 2021 road race season is preparing for a blend of virtual and small group in person events. Foot Traffic’s Hop Hop Half/10k/5k is doing exactly that. The race date is set for April 3, 2021, and participants will have the option to sign up for a “virtual” event, during which they would complete the distance any time between April 3rd and April 17th on any route they choose themselves. Race times can be submitted to be added to the finishers list; the result will be listed as “verified” if you include a link to the activity on Strava.

Alternatively, participants will have the option to run a timed race on a marked and measured (but not closed) course starting at the Foot Traffic NE store. The in-person race will be limited to 20 start times per hour between 8am and 1pm, and the after-party will be very small with lots of space to spread out and maintain distance.

The swag bag for this race is something to behold: You will receive an event t-shirt, finisher’s medal, a finish line ribbon, a $10 gift card to have brunch at a local restaurant, a mini mimosa kit (for participants 21+), and a champagne flute. The first 300 registrants will also receive a Hop Hop face mask.

Registration is now open! The virtual race costs $59 for any distance. If you live out of the area and can’t pick up the race packet, you can have it mailed for a shipping fee. The VIP In-Person race registration is $89 for any distance, and it is limited to a total of 120 participants.
