What are you doing for Thanksgiving? If you’re a runner or walker (or even if you aren’t) this is often a day you’d typically get out and do some sort of Turkey Trot before you stuffed your face with turkey, pumpkin pie, or something equally as delicious. Of course Thanksgiving looks a little different this year, and so do the Turkey Trot-Style races. But arguably the best part of running, and of Thanksgiving too, is community. So if there’s ever a year that we need a relay, it’s this one.
Run With Paula Events puts on the best races in Portland. We here at Run Oregon love supporting Paula and Dave Harkin, and this year, we are getting a brand new holiday race that we hope will become a new tradition.. the 2020 RWP’s Thanksgiving Day Relay/2m/4m Run/Walk. This race has three options for you .. There’s a 2 Mile Run/Walk, a 4 Mile Run/Walk, or a 10 Mile Relay that you can split up into a team of up to 10 running friends or family members. You can run or walk it collectively and split up the miles however you see fit, as long as it adds up to 10 miles. Run the relay apart or together, (always keeping things as safe as possible) and make your own fun for the holidays.
What’s great about this relay is that you can do it anytime that works for you and/or your group between November 25th and November 29th and you can pick your own course or follow one of the actual routes planned throughout Portland.
Sign your family or friends up for this relay and everyone will get their own race packet so you can run with each other or apart, but always together either way. Everyone will get a personalized bib number, a t-shirt, and a mask.
The cost of this race is only $20 per person for the relay or $25 for the individual 2 mile walk/run or 4 mile walk/run. The charity for this event is The Oregon Food Bank, which is always a worthy cause, especially at this time of year.
