Race Preview: 2020 Tygh Valley Infinity Ultra

**GIVEN THE UNCERTAINTY OF THINGS DUE TO COVID-19, PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE PREVIEWING THIS RACE AS IF IT IS STILL OCCURRING . WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO FOLLOW THESE RACES ON SOCIAL MEDIA OR THEIR WEBSITES TO DETERMINE IF CHANGES ARE BEING MADE**

Back again for 2020 is the Tygh Valley Infinity Ultra, hosted by X-Dog Events. This isn’t the standard ultra race, with a pre-set distance you’re aiming to complete. This is a last-runner-take-all, only-one-winner, if-you’re-not-first-you’re-last type of event.

The rules? Everyone runs a 5K and must complete it in 40 minutes or less. Everyone who makes it, lines up and does it again! Rinse and repeat until the last runner who is able to complete the 5K in the time limit is left. Besides the 40 minute 5K time limit, there is no cutoff, so the race will take as long as it takes! The course loops will start and finish in front of the rodeo grandstands at Hunt Park/Wasco County Fairgrounds in Tygh Valley. The course will run through the fairgrounds and park and may also go out onto the frontage road. The grandstand lights will be on once it gets dark so much of the course will have light, but runners may want a headlamp if they anticipate being out there through the night.

There will be aid at the start/finish line featuring Gatorade, soda, water, fruit, pretzels, energy gels, etc. Racers are allowed to leave the course to access their own aid if they want / need, but must re-enter the course at the same location. Sorry, no pacers allowed but support crew is welcome at the start/finish line. The local 4H club will also be serving up hamburgers…if you can squeeze it in! Widmer beer will also be available during the entirety of the event. Other local programs and volunteers will be serving up food for purchase during the event, so bring some cash!

The winner is awarded a trophy and the rest of the participants will receive a DNF medal for their bravery.
