Race Preview: 2020 Oregon Winter Half/Quarter Marathon & 5K (Aloha)

It’s time for the Oregon Winter Half Marathon/Quarter Marathon/5K to kick off Uberthons’ annual quartet of seasonal races! For those who haven’t followed the Uberthons events, each seasonal race offers a half marathon and quarter marathon distance options, and the summer one includes a full marathon, while the other three also include a 5K option; and each takes place in a different part of Oregon (though all within about 30-40 minutes of Portland).

The Winter event is run entirely on the paved trail of the south golf course at The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club in Aloha. Once around the course is a quarter marathon, so the half is a double loop, while the 5K has its own split off. The trail is usually clear but this being wintertime, it’s certainly possible to have some small pools of water or packs of mud if there has been recent rainfall.

As with all Uberthons events, there’s chip timing with instant results available at kiosks or on your smartphone, a big finisher’s medal (varied designs depending on the race distance), post-race food (a soup bar in this case), age group 1st/2d/3d winner pins, and medals for overall/Masters/Seniors 1st/2d/3d winners.

It’s hard to believe, but this is Uberthons’ tenth year of staging races!
