Race Preview: 2019 Rotary Multi-Sport Riverfest (Salem)

With September already quickly approaching (bye August, already?!) that means that the Rotary Multi-Sport Riverfest is coming back! This year they’re kicking it off with a triathlon, duathlon, 10k, 5k, and 1k family run. For the triathlon and duathlon, they’re doing both a sprint and olympic distance this year to let you pick your poison.

As is typical with a lot of the runs in Salem, you’ll get to cross over the two bridges that connect Minto, Riverfront, and Wallace Marine parks providing miles of endless trails to run through. The 10k and 5k races will be starting at Riverfront Park while the triathlon and duathlon will begin at Wallace Marine Park. For you triathletes out there, this is going to be a fun one with swimming in the Willamette, cycling through Salem’s gorgeous parks, and running in the heart of the city. As for us runners, there’s also a little something for everyone with the family run, 5k, and 10k distances. Every participant will also receive a medal and shirt for participating so you’ll be able to show off your accomplishments.

Packet pickup will be on Saturday, September 14 at Riverfront Park, near the Carousel, between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. There will also be day-of-race registration and packet pickup on the 15th in the Rotary Pavilion (near the start line) from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. except the Family Fun Run which goes until 9:30 a.m. Costs range from $15 for the family run to $110 for the Olympic Triathlon.
