Diamond Lake is a special spot in Southern Oregon that’s a great starting point for so many cool things. It’s not far from Crater Lake, it’s flanked by Mt. Thielsen and Mt. Bailey, it’s just outside the Oregon Outback, near the Umpqua River, hosts the start line of the infamous Cascade Lakes Relay, and is scenic just on its own. Adding to the lineup of “all the things” is the Diamond Lake Half Marathon, coming up on Sunday, September 15th.
Hosted by Pink Buffalo Racing, this event is 100% paved and gains only about 470 feet, so it’s a chance for a PR for sure! Starting at the Diamond Lake Resort, the course takes runners on a quick out and back to break up the field, then circumnavigates the lake clockwise on the John Dellenback Trail. You’ll have views of mountains, forests, flowers, and the lake. The course will have 4 aid stations (miles 3, 6, 9.5, and 11) with water, electrolytes, snacks, first aid, and toilets.
There will be post-race food, chip timing by Eclectic Edge, and finisher’s medals. This race looks incredibly scenic so take the family for a weekend of Diamond Lake goodness with a little running sprinkled in!
