Race Preview: 2019 Millersburg Celebration Half & 5k

Though I only live about 30 minutes or so from Millersburg, I didn’t even know where it was located until this week. For some reason, Millersburg has a “middle-of-nowhere” sounding name, yet it’s actually a small community yet nowhere near the rural frontier that I figured. Millersburg sits just north of Albany and tucked between I5 and the Willamette River. It’s a growing community that looks to be a combination of agriculture and commerce.

Their 2nd annual race event runs in conjunction with the Millersburg Celebration, a day full of running, music, food, vendors, car show and kids fun zone! There will be beer & wine and several food carts to refuel at, as well as local vendors from the community. Admission is free.

The half appears to cover almost the entirety of the city on rural country roads itself and will be a looped in nature with 5 water stations. The configuration of the 5k is pretty unique – almost snowman in configuration, with three separate loops.

It’s always fun to explore new places when running, and a $45 half marathon, plus free admission for the rest of the day should make for a fun weekend of fun without breaking the bank.
