On July 28th, 2019, join fellow participants in a 5K or 10K run in the Ralph Painter Run, at Rainier High School. This race is in memorial of Ralph Painter, it has been established in his honor. All proceeds from the race go towards a scholarship fund for deserving high school seniors in Columbia County. Ralph Painter was a long time resident of Columbia County and most recently the Chief of Police for Rainier. He was an avid runner and ran in many races and events. He also earned honors as an All-League Athlete and was nominated to the Who’s Who in Track and Field his senior year.
The memorial run has two distances, a 5K and a 10K. Both distances start at Rainier High School. The 5K will start on the track and continue on a paved course through the Columbia County countryside. There is one large hill at the beginning, with flat and downhill terrain the rest of the course. The finish line will be at the high school track. The 10K course follows the 5K course, but veers off into the woods for a beautiful scenic run. It is well marked throughout. The 10K will also end at the high school track.
