On June 29th, the 2nd annual 2019 Sam Day 5k will be held at Sunset High School in Cedar Mill at 8pm. The 5k will take place on the paved neighborhood streets and paths and there is also a kid’s 1k run which begins at 730pm.
Sam Day battled bone cancer for 6 years and passed away a week before his freshman year at Sunset High School. This race will benefit rare pediatric cancer research and the Sam Day Foundation.
Runners will get a t-shirt, a finisher’s medal, and a goodie bag filled with fun stuff. There will be on-course water and support, along with music and awards after the race. Sam would have been 18 on June 23rd, so his birthday will be recognized and there will be a celebration of future birthdays for kids with rare cancer.
