Race Preview: 2019 Oregon Spring Half Marathon/Quarter Marathon/5K (St. Paul)

It’s hard to believe that it’s been more than two months since the last Uberthons event (the Chocolatathon); the long gap was due to the absence of the Luckython, which had been run every year starting in 2011. But never fear, if you need your Uberthons fix, the Spring Event is here. This is the second in Uberthons’ series of four seasonal half marathons aimed at showcasing different locations outside of Portland.

This year, the Spring Event takes place in Champoeg State Park on May 25, and offers three distance options: half marathon, quarter marathon, or 5K. You can check out the race courses here. They’re all different — the half is not a double loop of the quarter, and the 5K isn’t just the first part of the quarter marathon.

I’m not positive, but I think the last time Uberthons staged a race at Champoeg Park was 2013’s Run for Boston, which was a 5K race (recapped here). It’s a fun area to go running, with some tree cover for shading and good views of the river.

As is typical for Uberthons events, there are nice big finisher’s medals for everyone (well, everyone who finishes), plus age group winner pins (three deep, in 5 year age groups), and overall/masters/seniors winner medals; plus, post-race catering will be provided by Qdoba. Mmmmm!

Note: Parking costs $5!
