Twilight on the Track: A Run Oregon preview of the 3rd Annual Teddy Twilight at Roosevelt HS

You should enter the Teddy Twilight based on the graphics alone!

The 3rd Annual Teddy Twilight track meet is scheduled for Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 at Roosevelt High School in North Portland. No, the meet is not named after a Sinatra-like crooner or a boxer from the 1930s; the name “Teddy Twilight” refers to the school’s namesake Theodore Roosevelt and the fact that the events begin at 5:00p.

The meet is open to all comers, and is a fundraiser for track athletes in North Portland. “All proceeds go toward costs associated with equipment, travel, and proper nutrition for our athletes.” If you don’t want to compete, you can donate to the Roughriders at their Rider Track Club page. But you really should consider signing up for an event or two, because open meets with a variety of events like this are a rare treat. Events this year include 3000m, 2000m Steeplechase, Superhero Half Mile (costumes encouraged!), Coed 800m Relay, Distance Medley Relay, 4 x 400m Relay, and Coed 10000m. All events except the Half Mile, 800m Relay, and the 10000m will have separate heats for men and women.

The Teddy Twilight welcomes high school, collegiate, and club teams, as well as individual unattached athletes. It its short history the meet has boasted some blazing-fast times, but don’t let that discourage you from coming out and taking advantage of the chance to burn up the track at your own best pace. And don’t miss the opportunity to experience Takohachi, a traditional Japanese drum & dance group performing during the 10000m. Heck, I think you should reward the organizers with an entry or donation for their awesome logo alone!
