The inaugural Run for the Climate will take place on Saturday, August 25th in Salem’s Minto-Brown Island Park. This untimed run starts at the covered shelter at 9am, and it takes runners and walkers through the beautiful park and along the Willamette River. There is a water station near the half way point of the course. After the race participants will receive a reusable goody bag and will be eligible to win raffle prizes from sponsors.
This run is a fundraiser for Plant for the Planet, a free, day-long Academy for all youth grades 4th through 12th and their families to make a difference on climate change. Since 2007, Plant for the Planet has empowered more than 55,000 children in 54 countries and planted more than 15 billion trees worldwide. Last fall we had our first educational academy with local youth in Salem and planted six trees in Salem’s Bush Park. Please help us get more youth involved in coming years in order to grow our impact!
