Strava Segment of the Week: Run Northbest Finish

The Run Northbest is a race series, with a 5k and a 10k option, going on RIGHT NOW in Beaverton. Well, not right this second … but the next three Wednesdays! Best part of this whole series is the price: the 5k series is only $35 and the 10k series is only $55. That is a great deal for three races. I’m signed up (look for a recap of the first race coming soon) and I had a great time at the initial race. Even with the hills.

The next-best-part of the Run Northbest series is that this week’s Strava Segment of the Week is the last quarter-mile of the course, starting at the trailhead on SW Teal Blvd and running up, down, up, down, and up again to the finish at Murrayhill Park. Check out the Run Northbest Finish segment here.

It’s 0.3 miles and a roller-coaster of a ride, with three steep hills ranging from 40 feet to 60 feet in height. It’s also on the course for the SW5k that was run just a few weeks ago.

What makes it an idea segment (aside from the fact you can still register for the remaining three races in the Run Northbest Series) is that at the end of this segment (during the Series) is that ice-cold Deschutes beer is waiting for you. Yup, finishers of the Run Northbest events that are 21+ and have their ID get treated to a refreshing treat, like my current Deschutes fave, Fresh Squeezed IPA.

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
