Oregon State University’s Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine is hosting their annual Pet Day 5K on Saturday, May 5th. This very fun run and walk features some of the cutest K9’s in the area! Yes, dogs are allowed and even encouraged to participate (on a leash, of course) in this popular event.
I was able to find out more information about the race from Colleen Wedin, friend of the blog, runner and Certified Veterinary Technician at the Oregon State University Teaching Hospital.
Pet Day has been put on for the last 31 years and the 5K is in it’s 8th year. The College doesn’t take in any profit from the race into their programs; any funds raised go to the next event and to local shelters. Students and staff hold many fundraisers for the community. Pet Day is a fun experience for all involved!
In addition to the awesomely fun race, Pet Day features a costume contest for animals (you have to register by April 30th for the contest!), a cat photo contest, a petting zoo, dog wash for your furry pal, nutrition and wellness info and many vendors and booths with information for animal lovers, adoption information and pet products for sale. To learn more about Pet Day, visit the CVM’s web page for more information.
