What Run Oregon is Wearing: Epic Wipes (The Massive Wet Wipe)

Here’s a scenario that may be familiar to many of you: because of work, family obligations, or something else, you aren’t able to get to your planned workout. Boo. Worse yet, it looks like a perfect day for a run, and you’re stuck doing whatever it is that you’re busy with. But then, you get an unexpected opportunity in the middle of the day to get outside. You’ve even got running clothes and gear with you (because you should always have running clothes and gear available, just in case….).

But you don’t have access to a shower. Oh no!

Epic Wipes has a solution for that problem. Its Epic Wipes Massive Wet Wipe is, as the tagline suggests, a “shower on the go.” Each individually sealed packet is about the size and thickness of a small wallet. Tear it open and unfold the giant wet wipe inside, and you get a generously moist, biodegradable wipe that’s in between the size of a hand towel and a bath towel. Keep a supply of these with your running gear, and you won’t have to worry about stinking up the office or car after an impromptu workout.

No Shower? No Problem. With Epic Wipes you can do all the things you love…without the smell.

Normal wet wipes are too small and flimsy. Resealable packages are less than hygienic. And most products are not only ineffective for a full-body cleanse, but they’re also full of toxins. That’s why we developed Epic Wipes!

I tried the Epic Wipes after a base building run. It was around 45 degrees out, so I don’t think I got too sweaty, but a shower was still called for. Before that, however, I opened one of the packs of Epic Wipes. It indeed feels like a giant wet wipe, though wetter than regular wet wipes. I unfolded it quickly, but perhaps not completely, as what I had seemed more like a hand towel size, yet still larger than a typical wet wipe. There’s plenty of towel area and moisture to provide a full body wipe, and I think if you had a ziplock bag handy, you could refold the wipe and get at least one more use out of it. Indeed, Epic Wipe suggests that the wipe is reusable.

The wipe did feel cold. I had kept this particular pack in the house, so it wasn’t as if it had been sitting in my car in 40ish degree weather. But just as 68 degrees is relatively warm for ambient air temperature but not for a shower/bath, the wipe felt like a cold shower. Brrr! I imagine that in the late spring and summer, that will be a feature, not a bug. It did get the job done quite well however.

Finally, note that the Epic Wipe has an eucalyptus scent. I personally found it to be a bit strong (editor’s note: I have tried the XL version and love the clean smell), but I imagine it’s something you get used to.

Epic Wipes is also very tied into being fantastic community stewards. They have donated thousands upon thousands of wipes  for Hurricane Relief and to troops abroad. They’ve partnered with great charities like “Save the Children” and “Operation Care and Comfort” to make sure their donations get to the people who need Epic Wipes. Here’s a little blurb from their blog:

Giving, in and of itself, is not necessarily a good thing. You can give someone a headache for example. You can give them pause or cause for concern. So what we give the world, for better or worse, is what we leave behind – the sum total of our actions.
