As fall surrounds us with the beautiful colors of changing leaves, running can often take on a new perspective depending on where you put your feet down. Champoeg State Park in St Paul is one of those places where every tree seems to put on its own show, trying to outdo all the others, which makes it an amazing place to take in the scenery… or run a few miles.

Since 2003, the ORRC has organized the Autumn Leaves Ultras, which are definitely one of the fastest 50K/50 mile courses out there. The course is a 10K loop which means the 50K folks run it 5 times while the 50 mile runners go around 8 times. The course is nearly flat with only a couple of soft rolls along the way. 80% of the course is on a paved bike path while 20% is on single track dirt trail. All along the way, runners are treated to picturesque park settings, which help keep the loops from getting old.

When: Saturday, October 28th. The race starts at 6am and runners must bring headlamps for the beginning of the race.

Cost: ORRC members get a break at $95 (50 miler) and $75 (50K).

Non members are $105 (50 miler) and $85 (50K).
