Small Race Previews: 2017 Forest Grove Lions Club Run/Walk for Sight & Tualatin Invite Community 5k

If you’re looking for a fun local race that’s family-friendly and supports a good cause, come out to Pacific University in Forest Grove on September 9th for the 17th Annual Forest Grove Lions Club Run/Walk for Sight. This event is sanctioned by the Road Runners Club of America and there will be a chip-timed 5k, a 10k, and a Tot Trot, which is a kid’s run.

The Forest Grove Lions have partnered with Pacific University College of Optometry to  bring you this event which uses 100% of it’s funds for scholarships, vision clinic equipment, and assisting the Pacific University AMIGOS program of volunteer optometric services.

The course for this event is in beautiful downtown Forest Grove along the Pacific University campus, and the fast, paved route will give you great views of Chehalem, Tualatin Mountains, and the Coast Range foothills. Strollers are welcome!

The registration cost on all distances covers the entry, a t-shirt, parking, refreshment, and a prize drawing entry. Register before August 27th to guarantee the t-shirt!

When: September 9th, 2017 9:00AM for 10k Run and 5k Walk, 9:15AM for 5k Run

Registration Cost: $35 for all races except Tot Trot, which is $5. Cost increases $5 on Race Day.


Also on September 9th, you have the option of running the Tualatin Invite Community 5k in Tualatin.

This event takes place just before the first high school race of the day and the cost is only $5. There are over 20 schools competing later in the morning, so it’s a great way to start the fun.

The course for this race is mostly on a gravel path surrounding the high school.
