If you have ever wanted to run a “kick ass adventure”, the McCubbin’s Gulch Scramble is the race for you! However, don’t wait till next year because this is the last year of the race.
The race starts at the McCubbin’s Gulch Recreation Area on Mount Hood on August 6th and follows trails with all natural obstacles. If you are expecting to run the whole way, your mind will change on the course as some parts of trail you simply cannot run. This 6 mile run averages finishers in the 1:15 – 1:30 range and some being on the course for about 2 hours.
This scramble isn’t just a race, but instead a full event. There is a pre-race potluck, campfire bingo and a whole hog being smoked for after the race. Camping is highly recommended as they describe it to be “legendary” and includes a naked “Creek Streak”.
Packet pickup is the morning of the race and the race itself begins at 10am. The cost is $35 and promises to be epic.
