Small Race Preview: 2017 Buccaneer Rampage – Obstacle Course/Run (Newport)

Ahoy mateys! Have you been dreaming of doing a mud obstacle along the Oregon Coast while dressed as a pirate? Well grab those buccaneer pants, your captain’s hat and your sweet swords because you need to be doing the Buccaneer Rampage!

This race has 15 obstacles including mud hills, puddle jumps, tire climbs, rope walls, fire jumps, wall climbs, log hurdles, water crosses and more all along a muddy and steep terrain for close to 3 miles. There is a competitive wave if you want to go all out, but the majority are casual waves. Due to the nature of the course, you have to be 15 or older. But don’t worry if you’ve got youngins who want to get down and dirty too because there is also a kids course option that runs after the main race is done. This event is organized by the City of Newport Parks and Recreations and proceeds from the race go towards the youth sports scholarship program. The organization hand built all of the obstacles that are being used which is really neat too!

Prizes are given to best dressed pirates and top female and male in the competitive wave. Each participant receives a medal and a swag bag of fun items! Stick around afterwards for beer, music, food and fun times along the beautiful Oregon beaches! Make it the start to a weekend at the Oregon Coast!
