If you’re looking for a parade, a rodeo, and a quick 5k to celebrate your 4th of July, then head out to Molalla to take it all in!
The Molalla Running Club is once again putting on the Freedom 5k, which mirrors the Molalla parade route (before the parade, so you won’t have to hop over broken candy pieces or worse, horse droppings!). This race runs through the historic downtown area and, as people line up to secure their viewing spots for the parade, you’ll be treated to 1,000s cheering you on! The event is capped at 550 runners, so make sure you don’t miss out.
Runners and walkers are welcome, as are strollers (sorry, no dogs). Anyone who finishes in less than an hour will receive an official time (chip timed by Huber Timing). While you won’t be booted from the course if an hour goes by and you’re still out there, the race directors just ask that you stay ahead of the parade. Age group awards, as well as top male and female finisher awards, will be given and all participants will receive a medal this year!
The icing on the cake? A free rodeo ticket to the matinee Molalla Buckaroo on July 4th! There are even locker rooms at the start/finish line for runners to shower and freshen up before making their rodeo debut.
