If you look in the trunk of my car right now, you will see a lot of things. As someone who tries to be prepared for the situations where I just grab the kids and go on an adventure, my car is always stocked with items, as well as other functional outdoor gear like blankets, towels, hammock and straps, tarp, and shelter/tent. While this has generally worked for me, I do admit that it can be a bit daunting, and sort of a physical struggle, to grab a bunch of different items and haul them by hand to my final destination – be that beach, trail, or campground. It’s not super-efficient and more work than I really should be doing.
Our Kickstarter of the Week, the M.C. Hammie, designed by the company Wildish out of our very own Bend, takes a lot of those desired outdoors items melding them together into one small, functional package. The M.C. Hammie is a minimalists dream, essentially taking everything you love about your:
and combines them together into one single-handheld item.
The M.C. Hammie has integrated straps and carabiners on it, so need to carry separate straps when looking for those perfect hammock spots. It is designed with triple and double stitching and aluminum carabiners to keep things light and durable. It is also made from DWR Diamond Ripstop Nylon, the material that most tents utilize for its water repellant qualities.
Just think – you are set up in the Wallowa Mountains, basking in the late afternoon glow of water off the lake and napping as silence fills your ears. Off in the distance, a thunderclap is heard and you see rain clouds barreling down the Valley (does it sound like I have recent experience in this scenario? Cause I do). Instead of making a mad scramble for cover, simply unhook the hammock, plop it down on the ground and use the 6 aluminum stakes to secure to the ground and rest easy – and dry. On top of that, this is a perfect blanket for the beach or even a ballgame or outdoor concert.
